Every once in a while, I’ve received link request email for my websites (not this blog though..). If I like their site, I link to them; else, I dump the email. Last week, I received a somewhat extraordinary link request email. Check this out:
—-
Title: courtesy request
Hey Name,
I love your site… “..goes on praising my website and give his/her own opinion about it..”
I am writing to ask you permission to link to you on my website. “..goes on explaining what his/her website does, and why he/she is linking to me..”
I know that these days people often link freely, but I’d rather do so with your knowledge and permission.
Thanks,
Name

Ok. Read it again if you don’t get it. The email does not request I link to him/her, instead, requesting my permission for him/her to link to me.
Anyway, the website is very relevant to my site content, and I would love to link to the site. But then, the SEO side of me wants to play a bit experiment. Everybody know LINK is a web currency. And I just want to find out whether this is just another link request email, or it’s ‘different’.
I replied the email, giving my courtesy for his/her website to freely link to me. But I did not link to his/her website.
He/She never link to my site, even after a week. :D
Update: 21th Jan 2007, He/She did link to my website. My bad :)

That is quite unusual request. Anyway, I thought most will be more than glad to accept that kind of requests.
Anyway, after so long, have you checked if this person has linked to you? Sorry, but I am quite interested to know..

Jasmine,
Thanks for concerning.
I rechecked this perosn’s website today and realized that I probably made a mistake. He/she really linked to my site! :D
