Linkedin SEO Guide
Linkedin is a business professionals social networking website. Like a lot of social networking website, you get a linkback to your own website in the profile page. And what’s even better, Linkedin doesn’t have any nofollow tag on their profile’s outgoing link.
I would like to show you how to optimize your Linkedin profile to get the most out of it.

1. Search Engine Friendly Permanent Link, anyone?
Switch your profile to “Full View”, and use the custom URL. You have 2 options here on what should you input as the URL. You can either:
1) Use your own name / company name (which is what I’m doing)
2) Use your targeted keywords (if it’s still available).
2. Link your websites there (up to three websites are accepted). Oh, have you just forgotten the importance of anchor text?
Input your websites URL by editing your additional profile. Everyone knows the power of anchor text, it’s the basic of SEO. Don’t forget the basic. Choose “Other:” as your website type instead of “My Company” or “My Blog” (because neither the options can let you use your own anchor text), and there you go.

3. Make your website links available at the front page.
Now you have your search engine friendly profile link, with your websites input and configured with the correct anchor text, please make sure your website links are in the first profile page. If not, edit your public profile, and tick the “websites” checkbox.

4. Water some link love to your profile.
Linkedin has already establish some authority in search engine, half of the work is already done. Now, we have to do our part on giving our profile more links. Link it from your blog/website. Occasionally drop the links when commenting in others blog (instead of using your own blog URL). Link it from your forums signature. Well, I’m not going to mention all other gazillion ways to build links here, am I? :)
So there you go, my SEO guide on optimizing your Linkedin profile. And feel free to add me as your connection: http://www.linkedin.com/in/limcs , my email is: hello at increseo dot com.

Okay I’ve tested it. I also submitted tags for it with deli.cio.us so if it shows up in a search result under the tags we’ll know this is a smart SEO move.
