Just when a lot of SEOs are kissing “their” ass…

The link building master has taken a strong stance…

Eric Ward has published his guide of buying links: The Pros and Cons of Buying Links. A must read for everyone who want to buy links thru the text links network/broker. The interesting follow up is the response from the public. You can see some of the comments here.

One of the interesting comment is from John Scott:

Shocked by the idea of an SEO saying do not buy links. 95% of ranking, and SEO, is links. He is in essence saying, do not do SEO.

Um, John, we know why you said that. But Link Building and Link Buying are two different thing. Anyway, Jarrod’s spin control comment is too utterly predictable though:

What are you talking about? Risk? Your more likely to get hit by lightning then to get banned for buying links.

Here’s my comment to both of them, quoting from the movie Inconvenient Truth:

“You can’t make somebody understand something if their salary depends upon them not understanding it.”

It’s true, to an extent - buying links is a pretty dangerous game. On the other hand… playing things safe might result in a site with no rankings and no traffic in the long-term. I’d far rather have a year of good rankings and then be banned than have no rankings ever.
