Impact of a dedicated IP address

According to the text-book style of SEO, dedicated IP was mentioned as one of the on-page factor that would help on the search engine ranking. Come to think of it, few of my better ranked websites indeed are on dedicated IP address. Bruce Clay nailed it in his recent blog post:

Three percent of Web sites use them, and 90 percent of Web sites in the top 50 results have them. Counterintuitive, don’t you think?

And guess what, this blog is sharing its IP with 257 other websites. I’m going to get one IP address specially for this blog from my hosting company and see how it goes :)
