“There are no direct evidence that purchased links will cause your website being penalized in search engines”

You can see the corellation. The link-buying/selling marketplace is huge. Too huge to be foregone. Just like cigarrettes.
But the gauntlet has been thrown, by some fellows working for search engines, by some reputable SEO, and even some victims you get to know in the webmaster forums.
SmokingPaid Links are bad for you.
But no. The conglomerate of text links are not gonna let it happen. At least not so easily.
Damage Control.
You probably come across some of them. Even some extremely pathetic post like this one (no, Google won’t love you unless you wear a condom)
Does damage control help? Yes. Can it save them? We probably have to wait longer to see that. But Andy probablymade the right choice.

Thanks limcs, do you think sell a link can earn a lot money since you have high pr?

Louiss: Hi. Neh, if for around PR4-PR5 standards, you get at most $10-$30 per month per link, without the commission (50%) pay to the brokers.

I think Google doesn’t assume all link exchange service the same.
