Assemble The Perfect SEO Team

by Lim CS on December 25, 2006

Most of the people do all the SEO work on their own. Yeah, why kill a chicken with a cow knife? (direct translation from chinese idioms). But if that was the case, many large SEO firm would go belly up. No matter how brilliant a person is, the resources (in terms of time and energy) are limited. Without leveraging from others, one can only achieve mediocre result.

You need a group of people. A group of people that excels in their own roles, working as a team. A perfect SEO team. Here’s how I’m going to assemble my perfect SEO team (um, assuming that I have the money…):

The Critic

The critic’s job is to analyze on-page optimization factor. The outbound link, the navigation, the title tag, meta tag, keyword density, page layout, URL, the list goes on. He notices any fault on the website like smelling shit on the shoe, and keep on criticizing until improvement has been made to perfection.

The Aggregator

As in ‘information aggregating’. The aggregator job is to read and digest as much new information (related to SEO) as possible, and aggregate those that make sense and important back to the team.

The Scientist

The scientist involves in research and development. SEO is a field of constant myth and false information. Hence, it’s important to test out any new technique or any new idea of SEO before implementing it. The scientist will have to deal with the consequences of getting his site ban, crash and burn from the search engine.

Link Whore

The essence of SEO is link, link and link. And that’s all that matters to the link whore. The term was earlier nailed by Eric Ward as somebody who wants to get as many links as possible without any quality filtering. The link whore here needs to be more selective, which means avoiding those ‘bad neighbourhood link’ and any link that will destroy the credibility of the site.

The PR Guy

Everybody loves the PR guy, he seems to be one of the few nice guys around the cold SEO industry. PR guy is responsible for connecting with the industry big names, and any authoritative figures. You can see his name everywhere: the blogs, forums, discussions..etc. The PR guy helps people. Because you never knew when you need a favor from somebody.

So that’s my perfect SEO team. What does yours look like? :)
