5 Reasons Why I Blog

Thanks for the tag, Gordon. Here’s my five reasons:

1. A place for myself and my thought
What’s better when you have something in your mind, and you can write about it, and have somebody to read it. We, bloggers always have random ideas and thought in our mind, be it any new way of doing thing, inspiration, or simply to rant about something. When that happens, there is no place like home in our blog.

2. It’s about business
This blog gives me many business opportunities. It can be my credentials of my professionals and a great source for me to get new business. I received enquiries for SEO every once in a while, and few turned into business and long term clients. None would be possible if I just simply put up a page like “I’m a SEO expert and I will help your website rank higher in search engines”.

3. Content is the king
Alright, I admit it’s a bit old on that one, but content is still the golden rule of SEO. For good content, links will flow naturally to it. Thanks to those links, this website now ranks relatively well in all the major search engines. At this time of writing, it ranks #1 for “SEO” and “Search Engine Optimization” for Google Malaysia (google.com.my).

4. Networking
Ok. You see this same reason over and over again in every blog post that are doing the same topic like this one. So yes, blogging does open a lot of doors for networking opportunities.

5. Every person and his dog has a blog
Seriously. My neighbor’s 7 year old son is blogging. Some grandma is blogging (and won best blog award on the way). The hot girl that sits right across you in Starbucks now? Yeah, she’s blogging too. Are you sure your parents don’t have a blog? What about your pet? Ok. May be not.
